KeepingUpWithKate: Self Confidence and How I Choose To Live My Life

Hello Glam Dolls,
Growing up I was over weight. I had no self confidence. I never stood up for myself, and because of that I got into some not so good relationships. Ones that did more damage on how I seen myself. I was always waiting around for that perfect person to come along and make me feel better about myself. If you are doing this right now, PLEASE STOP! It will never happen.

Confidence is something you have to gain for yourself. Never expect someone to give it to you, because remember, if they give it to you then that means they can easily take it away. About six years ago I decided to start taking better care of myself and really re-evaluate my life. I lost around 70 pounds these past few years and took myself out of a really bad relationship. Once I realized I was worth more than how people were treating me I started to gain a backbone. Trust me, if I can get one anyone can.

You have to find out what makes you happy and make it happen for yourself. If it's something simple like taking off a few pounds and wearing makeup, do it. If it's what you want. You have to know your worth it, and you have to believe you are one of a kind. There is not one single person on this earth that is exactly like you.

I feel really bad for people who rely on their happiness and their confidence on the person they are in a relationship with. I have done this may times in the past and it has lead to nothing good. Look in your mirror and start to like what you see. Never compare how you look to someone else. Never wish you had someones body, and never feel envious of other people in any way. Be happy for them, and work towards your goals!Focus on you and get what you want.

I choose to live my life by not caring what other people think. A lot of people mistake this for being cold. I am a very compassionate person, I just have no room for negativity. You have no idea how much negativity weighs down on your self confidence.

I have always been a curvy girl. For the longest time I was always insecure about this. I can honestly tell you that I love my body. I feel blessed to have what I have, and I think you all should feel the same way. No one else out there looks the same as you. That alone is a beautiful thing.

I get upset when I see other girls putting down other females for wearing makeup. I hear a lot of the time “if you're so confident, then why do you wear makeup.” I do not get my confidence from wearing makeup. I feel perfectly comfortable in my own skin. I do not feel the need that I have to wear it. I enjoy wearing it, and it makes me feel good about myself. I wear makeup everyday. I love big hair and I wouldn't change that about myself. Whatever makes you happy and feel good, do it. Doesn't matter if other people understand or approve. This is all about you and your journey to love yourself and appreciate what you have.

I love you guys so much. You have all been so supportive toward me with trying to make my dream come true. I am forever appreciative!!! Thank you all so much for reading, and I will talk to you all in my next post!!!

Remember, you do not have to explain to anyone why something makes you happy, or why it makes you feel good.

KeepingUpWithKate: My thoughts on “no makeup” makeup

Hello Glam Dolls,
Welcome to a new series I will be starting. I will be talking about different topics every week. No particular subjects. Today, KeepingUpWithKate will be about my thoughts on the ever so popular “no makeup” makeup look. I am a lover of all things beauty. I believe in personal preference when it comes to how you want to look. As women, we all have an image in our minds on how we want to be. If my image of how I see myself is different than yours, that does not make you wrong.

I respect and appreciate all kinds of makeup looks. It just so happens that I enjoy wearing a lot of makeup. I wear makeup about 6 days a week. Sometimes everyday. I enjoy putting it on, and I enjoy the way I look after I apply it. I get a lot of comments saying that I wear too much makeup. I do wear a lot of makeup, but that is the look I am going for. If you are wearing just an average amount and that is what you feel comfortable wearing, that is great for you. Only wear what you like. Don't wear makeup for other people, and do not do your makeup to please others. Beauty is about yourself and what makes you feel good.

I think that all woman should start appreciating each other more. We should respect one another on how we want to look and embrace our differences. Bringing down another female on how she wants to do her makeup is not going to make your application appear superior. It's all about choice.

In conclusion, I do not like “no makeup” makeup. If I am going to take the time to do my makeup your girl goes cake face or doesn't go at all. That does not mean I do not enjoy seeing other people wear it. I enjoy all aspects of the beauty industry and get inspiration from everywhere.

What are your thoughts on this topic? I would love to know. Connect with me on instagram, twitter, or comment below.

Thank you all so much for reading, and I will talk to you all in my next post.

D.I.Y Rose Water Facial Mist

Hey Glam Dolls,
Today I will be sharing with you a D.IY Rose Water  Facial Mist. I seen that Huda Kattan made this, so I was inspired to make it and try it out. This is very simple, and it does not call for a lot of things to make it.

This can be used to/as:
-Set Your makeup
-Prep the skin before makeup application
-Refreshing spray

One of the good things about this spray is that you know exactly what is in it. There are no chemicals, and is a great natural alternative to some that are available on the market today.

Rose water has a lot of great benefits for the skin. Some of them include:
-Natural Moisturizer
-Deep Conditioner
-Mild Antiseptic
-Anti Acne
-Improves Complexion
-Prevents Aging
-Natural Skin Toner

You will Need:
-Pure Rose Water ( I purchased mine off of ebay.)
-Distilled water (Optional. You can use regular water. I prefer distilled.)
-Spray bottle ( I got mine from the dollar store.)

If you want to decorate your spray bottle you will need:
-Some type of adhesive ( I used two sided tape.)
-Lace, ribbon, or some kind of fabric. You can be as creative as you want. You can also use whatever you like to decorate your bottle.

How To Make This Facial Spray:
  1. Decide what size bottle you would like to use. Depending on what size bottle you are using, that is what will determine how much rose water and distilled water you will use.
  2. Fill your bottle up with water. The pictures below will show you roughly how much distilled water to use.
  3. Fill the rest of the bottle with rose water.
  4. Shake well
  5. Enjoy!

It's that easy dolls!

I hope you all enjoyed this! I tried this out as soon as I made it and it is very refreshing! Thank you all so much for reading, and I will talk to you all in my next post.

Thank you so much to Huda for inspiring an amazing D.I.Y!!

How To Use Ben Nye Banana Powder On Fair Skin

Ben Nye Banana Powder is a pretty popular product. It is a beautiful yellow powder that can give you an amazing highlight. Unfortunately, if you have fair skin this product does not work for you. I love Kim K, so when I found out she used this powder I needed to find a way to make it work on myself.

I did a bit of research and couldn't come up with anything. I seen on the site that I purchased this on that Ben Nye also had a powder called Super White Professional Powder. So I bought them both.

Basically, if you want to make this work you need to get your hands on a white powder or this particular one.

What you are going to do is mix the two together to create a beautiful yellow tinted light highlight color. To be honest, I prefer the color this makes apposed to any other highlighting powder I own.

It depends on how fair you are and how light you want this to be when it comes to how much of each you mix together. If you are really fair skinned like myself then you will want to mix more of the super white than the banana.

When I “bake” my face I always use these two powders mixed together.

I use either a dry beauty blending sponge or the Real Techniques Setting Brush. Both work great.

If you want a more in depth post on how I “bake” my face or how I contour and highlight in general than please let me know.

If I am not in the mood to mix the two powders together, another thing I do is take the super white and put on a layer of that, and then layer the banana powder over top. It is an amazing color and really helps cover up under eye dark circles. I also put this on the tip of my nose, on my chin, and underneath my contour to make it look more crisp and sharp.

Thank you all for ready and I will talk to you all in my next post.
